About the Role:

We are seeking a seasoned engineering leader to spearhead the strategic direction for our Customer Experience (CX) Platform team, which comprises over 60 professionals across Engineering, Product Management, Design, and Data Science. The CX team is pivotal in enhancing our interactions with students and staff, and the Head of Engineering for the CX Platform will be instrumental in shaping how we develop and implement our foundational experience platform.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic planning, execution, and evaluation of initiatives for the CX Platform in collaboration with Product, Design, and Data leadership.
  • Enhance company-wide understanding and utilization of platform capabilities through systematic and measurable approaches.
  • Cultivate a culture of enthusiasm and excellence in platform development, driving productivity and quality in the experiences we deliver.
  • Empower a team of senior engineers, providing guidance and support to foster alignment, clarity, and high morale.
  • Act as a key stakeholder in communicating vision, strategy, and expectations through regular reviews with executive leadership.
  • Maintain high standards for user experience by considering the entire technology stack and advocating for front-end excellence.
  • Engage with senior individual contributors across engineering, design, data, and product to navigate trade-offs and drive informed decision-making.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in developing high-growth digital solutions, with a minimum of four years focused on platform functionalities.
  • Proven track record of scaling platform products from architecture to user interface in a modern technological environment.
  • Technical leaders with the ability to connect technology and business outcomes, articulating their impact in clear, straightforward terms.
  • Experience in senior leadership roles related to platform products, though strong candidates from other disciplines are encouraged to apply.
  • Excellent technical knowledge with the capability to design, architect, and discuss trade-offs with senior engineers.
  • Strong opinions and high standards regarding user experience, particularly in systems thinking and governance approaches.
  • Experience managing senior personnel, with a focus on alignment, motivation, and effective coaching.
  • Comfortable navigating organizational complexity and adept at change management.
  • Driven by customer empathy and the ability to articulate how customer impact propels business success.
  • Identifies as a cross-functional business leader, not confined to a specific discipline.
  • Able to transition from high-level strategic thinking to hands-on problem-solving as needed.
  • Possesses executive presence and storytelling abilities, capable of crafting a compelling vision for complex systems and inspiring teams to achieve meaningful results.
