Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to join our team at the University of Rochester. As a key member of our Imaging Sciences Department, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform ultrasound imaging and therapy in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
  • Adjust equipment controls to produce high-quality images and prepare/present them with other pertinent patient information for timely interpretation.
  • Educate patients/families regarding procedure and/or treatment to be performed.
  • Prepare room and patient specific to the exam to be performed, using established work patterns to work efficiently and safely within an ultrasound environment.
  • Maintain accurate patient record keeping by properly identifying images and assuring images are sent to the PACS system correctly.
  • Perform and evaluate equipment quality control measurements, adhering to safety policies.
Requirements
  • BS degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related Associates Degree with a Certificate in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
  • Must be registered or registry eligible by the ARDMS.
  • Non-registered sonographers must obtain ARDMS Abdominal and OB/GYN certifications within a year of hire.
