Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist I

Contra Costa County, CA is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ultrasound Technologist I to join our team in the Diagnostic Imaging Unit at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center in Martinez, CA.

Job Summary:

The Ultrasound Technologist I performs a variety of routine ultrasound imaging procedures in the diagnosis of diseases and study of malfunction of organs. The successful candidate will assist physicians in related ultrasound procedures performed on outpatient, inpatient, and emergency patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform diagnostic imaging in the modality of Diagnostic Medical Sonography
  • Operate a variety of diagnostic ultrasound equipment
  • Apply high frequency ultrasonic waves to patients through the use of transducers to produce images of internal organs for diagnostic interpretation
  • Consult with referring physicians regarding patient's medical history to determine the type of ultrasonic procedure required
  • Perform pulse and continuous-wave Doppler assessments
  • Document observations made during the procedure for final interpretation by the Radiologist
  • Assist in training ultrasound intern/residents and other ultrasonographers in ultrasound procedures
  • Participate in Quality Improvement efforts
Requirements:
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid certificate as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) issued by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography
  • A valid certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) issued by the American Red Cross or Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association
  • Proof of graduation from an accredited ultrasound training program and eligibility for the RDMS examination may be substituted for the required certification

The Ultrasound Technologist I will work in a fast-paced environment with intermediate to high levels of patient interaction. The successful candidate will be required to maintain the strictest levels of confidentiality and work effectively with various types and conditions of patients with minimum supervision.
