Position OverviewThis position is responsible for delivering materials to job sites, inspecting and maintaining trucks, reporting shortages and claims to supervisors, and assisting in loading and storing of materials. The ideal candidate will have a Class A or B Commercial Driver's License and experience driving a truck with a capacity of more than three tons.
Essential Job Duties- Operate Safely: Ensure safe transportation of materials to job sites, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
- Participate in a Positive Work Environment: Foster a positive and respectful work environment, promoting teamwork and collaboration among colleagues.
- Maintain a Current Commercial Driver's License: Ensure possession of a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License, as required by the company.
- Prepare DOT Required Log of Time on Duty and Driving: Accurately record time on duty and driving hours, adhering to Department of Transportation regulations.
- Organize and Secure Load: Ensure materials are properly loaded and secured for transportation to job sites.
- Assist Forklift Operators: Provide support to forklift operators when loading and unloading materials.
- Check Orders for Accuracy: Verify accuracy of orders before delivering materials to job sites.
- Deliver and Unload Materials: Safely deliver and unload materials to customers' satisfaction.
- Complete Daily Equipment Pre-Inspection: Regularly inspect and maintain trucks to ensure safe operation.
- Record Merchandise Returned by Truck: Accurately record merchandise returned by truck, assisting in unloading material returned for credit.
- Follow Guidelines Established by the Department of Transportation: Adhere to all Department of Transportation regulations and guidelines.
- Provide Excellent Customer Service: Deliver exceptional customer service, responding to customer inquiries and resolving issues in a timely manner.
- Relay Messages Sent by Customers: Communicate effectively with customers, relaying messages and resolving issues.
- Assist Supervisor and Other Employees: Provide support to supervisors and other employees, as assigned.
- Maintain Good Housekeeping in Yard and Warehouse: Ensure a clean and organized work environment, adhering to company standards.
- Comply with All Company Policies and Guidelines: Adhere to all company policies and guidelines, promoting a safe and respectful work environment.
- Operate Truck-Mounted Forklift Safely: Safely operate truck-mounted forklifts, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Maintain Cleanliness of Truck: Regularly clean and maintain trucks to ensure safe operation.
- Participate in and Complete Assigned Trainings: Participate in and complete assigned trainings, promoting professional growth and development.
- Perform Other Duties as Assigned by Management: Perform other duties as assigned by management, promoting a positive and productive work environment.
- Minimum Education: High School Diploma or general equivalency degree (GED).
- Minimum Experience: 6 months CDL experience preferred. Basic CDL experience with flat beds and/or tractor trailers required. 1 year CDL experience required for interstate commerce.
- Special Skills: Ability to do basic math, read orders, write instructions, and complete forms.
- Effective Communication: Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with customers, other employees, and supervisors using verbal and written skills.
- Conflict Resolution: Ability to deal constructively with conflict and recognize potential problems.
- Current Operator's License: Maintains current operator's license and meets company driver qualification requirements.
- Safe Lifting Techniques: Knowledge and ability to use safe lifting techniques.
- Physical Demands: Physical demands include stooping, bending, twisting, and throwing. Working in a variety of climates and environmental conditions. Ability to lift up 100 lbs or more on a repetitive basis.
- Proficiency with Current Technologies: Proficiency with or ability to learn current technologies (e.g. Smartphone, GPS, and other necessary business applications).
