Job Title: Principal Geotechnical Engineer

Gannett Fleming is seeking a highly experienced Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Valley Forge, PA. As a key member of our Geotechnical Practice, you will lead geotechnical engineers and assist project managers in planning and overseeing subsurface explorations and performing analyses for transportation, facilities, water resources, and other types of projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead geotechnical staff in planning and overseeing field explorations, construction projects, laboratory testing, geotechnical design, and analysis of shallow and deep foundations, stability and seepage analyses of earthen embankments, settlement estimates, earth retaining systems, and ground improvement assessments for complex sites.
  • Develop or review full design packages with geotechnical reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
  • Provide technical direction to junior staff and work in a team environment providing geotechnical engineering services.
  • Lead geotechnical engineering and/or project manager for engineering projects for a wide variety of engineering projects for public and private sector clients.
  • Develop proposals and participate in other business development activities.
  • Assist senior staff in managing client relationships, including business and new client development to expand the scope of our existing services.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required.
  • Master's Degree with a Geotechnical focus strongly preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required.
  • 15-20 years of geotechnical experience with an emphasis in design and development of geotechnical deliverables including investigations, reports, drawings, and specifications.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 applications required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation a plus.
  • Experience with common geotechnical software programs such as SLIDE, SLOPE/W, LPILE, APILE, GROUP, GRLWEAP, Settle3, and gINT or OpenGround strongly preferred.
  • FEM analysis experience and GIS experience a plus.
  • Field experience with construction observation for bridge projects, highway projects, deep foundations, and sinkhole and landslide remediation projects preferred.
  • Strong analytical, report writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all seasons, when needed.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
