Northeast Georgia Health System is dedicated to enhancing the health of our communities.
About the Role:
The Medical Critical Care Unit is a specialized 6-bed unit that delivers comprehensive care to patients with medical conditions requiring intensive monitoring and nursing intervention.
The care provided encompasses the medical and nursing management of patients who: (1) experience acute onset of diseases affecting any organ system, (2) are at risk of developing severe complications due to their acute condition or injury, and (3) suffer from exacerbations of chronic illnesses. Patient care in the Medical Critical Care Unit involves early detection and prevention of complications, management of complex physiological issues, patient and family education, and psychosocial support for families. Patients admitted for aggressive medical treatment that cannot be provided in other areas of the hospital may include those with:
- Respiratory failure
- Hemodynamically unstable conditions requiring invasive monitoring and/or close observation
- Drug overdose with medical instability
- Multisystem Organ Failure
- Hyperglycemia / Hypoglycemia
- COVID-19
Minimum Job Qualifications
- Licensure or other certifications: Must be licensed to practice as an RN in Georgia.
- Educational Requirements: Associate's Degree, ADN or Diploma required.
- Minimum Experience: At least 1 year of RN experience – Demonstrated competence in RN I performance expectations or meets experience requirements upon hire.
