Culinary Specialist at The Citadel of Bourbonnais

The Citadel of Bourbonnais is on the lookout for a Culinary Specialist to enhance our food service operations. The primary responsibility of this role is to prepare and serve meals for residents, adhering to established food safety and handling protocols to ensure that all meals meet nutritional standards and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and analyze menus prior to food preparation.
• Inspect special dietary trays to guarantee that residents receive the correct meals.
• Complete necessary administrative tasks, including forms and reports, and submit them to the Food Services Director.
• Coordinate meal service with various departments as needed.
• Collaborate with the culinary director to implement recommended changes effectively.
• Ensure compliance with all dietary procedures according to established policies.
• Maintain and file menus in accordance with facility guidelines.
• Assist in establishing efficient food service production lines to ensure timely meal preparation.
• Process dietary changes and new diets as directed by the Dietician or Nursing Services.
• Foster a positive working relationship with inter-departmental personnel to ensure that food service meets residents' needs.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• COVID Vaccination is mandatory.
• A minimum of two years of cooking experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language is essential.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others.
• Capability to prepare a variety of foods in large quantities.
• Physical ability to lift, push, pull, and move at least fifty (50) pounds to a height of three (3) feet and transport such weight a minimum distance of twelve (12) feet.
