Librarian Specialist

Job Overview

The GEO Group is a leading provider of correctional and community reentry services. We are seeking an experienced Librarian to join our team at a correctional facility.

About the Role

This is a full-time position responsible for maintaining the library, ordering books and materials, and supervising inmate library aides. The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree in library sciences or a related field and prior experience working in a small institutional library.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the circulation of library materials, including ordering, cataloging, and classifying books and periodicals.
• Supervise and train inmate library aides to ensure they understand library procedures and protocols.
• Develop and implement library procedures and regulations to maintain a safe and productive environment.
• Select and purchase library materials, including books, periodicals, and digital resources, to meet the needs of the assigned inmate population.
• Conduct regular inventories of library materials and prepare reports on circulation, inventory, and other relevant data.
• Provide information and assistance to inmates on using the library catalog and other resources.
• Assist with budget preparation and provide special reports as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in library sciences or a related field.
• One year of work experience and/or training in a small institutional library.
• Valid driver's license.
