Job Summary:
The Orthopaedic Surgery Coordinator plays a vital role in preparing and analyzing clinical data, collaborating with medical staff to prepare patients and families for surgery, and ensuring continuity of care. This position requires strong communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with healthcare professionals and patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain medical and social histories, and order tests through delegated protocols.
- Educate patients and families regarding all aspects of surgical care, including their condition and treatment options.
- Communicate with third-party payers regarding medical necessity and benefits.
- Provide continuity of care following evaluation for surgery and between inpatient admissions and outpatient visits.
- Collaborate with medical faculty, nursing personnel, and other health disciplines to meet patient and family needs.
- Provide telephone consultation and follow-up to support patients and their families.
Requirements:
- Current RN license in IL.
- 2 years of recent clinical nursing experience.
- Current BLS certification.
