Role of a Coding Specialist
In this role, you will be instrumental in advancing the healing mission of Deaconess.

Job Responsibilities
This position entails the precise and prompt coding of professional and/or hospital charges/claims by extracting information from the electronic medical record for compliant claim submission. You will also provide educational feedback to professional providers based on audited batches to ensure adherence to coding and billing standards set by payors. Keeping the Supervisor and Manager updated on daily progress and challenges related to coding and provider issues is essential. Additionally, you will be responsible for gathering information for follow-up staff to address outstanding claims or charge recordings.

Qualifications
A High School diploma or GED is required, with a Bachelor's degree preferred. A minimum of five years of experience in professional billing and coding is necessary. Candidates must possess a coding background and successfully pass internal assessments to qualify for this position.

Certifications and Licenses
Candidates must have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for training purposes.
Required certifications include Certified Professional Coder - CPC Certification or Certified Coding Associate - CCA Certification.
