Assistant Director of Nursing

Overview:

 

This role supports the Director of Nursing in overseeing the Nursing Department's operations, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal standards, as well as facility policies and procedures.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and communicate policies and procedures to nursing staff, monitoring their implementation.
  • Participate in the admission process and daily team meetings to discuss census changes, resident status updates, complaints, and concerns.
  • Assist the Director of Nursing in evaluating work performance, implementing discipline as needed, and participating in QAPI or facility assessment activities.
  • Evaluate delivery of compassionate quality care, maintain optimal resident functions, and ensure adequate staff coverage on units.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, physicians, consultants, and community agencies to address issues and improve services.
  • Help prepare inspection surveys, including staff in-services on survey processes, and participate in mock surveys as indicated.
  • Participate in the facility's plan of correction in response to an inspection survey.
  • Communicate directly with residents, medical and nursing staff, family members, department heads, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care and services, respond to complaints and concerns, and provide direct nursing care as necessary.
  • Act in an administrative capacity in the absence of the Director of Nursing and perform other duties assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • Active Nurse license & current CPR certification
  • At least 2+ years of nursing management experience
  • Knowledge of nursing and medical practices, laws, regulations, and guidelines related to long-term care
  • Strong communication skills, high integrity, ability to lead change, multitask, prioritize projects and deadlines concurrently
  • Proficiency in electronic health records, Point Click Care experience preferred

 

The estimated annual salary for this role is around $80,000-$120,000 based on industry standards and regional considerations.
