Job Summary:

UnityPoint Health is seeking a skilled RN Emergency Nurse to join our team. As an Emergency Department Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for coordinating the care of patients and families in a fast-paced environment. This role requires strong critical thinking skills, effective communication, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities:

• Collects current symptoms and patient history, consulting with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care and interventions.
• Performs triage, considering physical and psychosocial elements, and manages basic life support needs to stabilize patients until the attending physician is available.
• Initiates corrective action when monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomatology, records patients' current vital signs, and works directly with physicians during exams, diagnostic testing, and treatments.
• Prepares and administers prescribed medications, reports adverse reactions, and provides IV therapy, wound care, and basic bedside care.
• Maintains proper supplies and medical equipment, reports suspected abuse, and demonstrates professionalism in completing urgent tasks.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a BSN degree.
• One year of Emergency Department clinical experience or demonstrated clinical efficiency.
• Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, with Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Trauma Nurse Core Course certifications obtained within specified timeframes.
• Valid driver's license for work-related driving.
