About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Deli Counter Supervisor to join our team at Brattleboro Food Co-op. As a key member of our deli team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient daily workflow at the deli counter, overseeing exceptional presentation of the deli counter areas, and assisting the Deli Manager in meeting department goals for customer service, sales, margins, and turns.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Ensure excellent customer service by all staff, including ensuring a positive and welcoming experience for customers.
  • Product Knowledge: Be proficient in all sub-departments, including deli meats, cheeses, and prepared foods.
  • Product Presentation and Quality: Maintain a well-organized department, oversee quality of all products, merchandise deli counter/retail areas as needed, and maintain attractive and well-stocked deli cases.
  • Maintenance and Conditioning: Maintain cleaning schedules for the deli counter, plan and oversee cleaning projects, and maintain and monitor equipment.
  • Safety: Ensure health department regulations are followed in all deli procedures.
  • Teamwork: Oversee daily workflow of the deli counter, including set up, production, customer service, sales, ware washing, cleanup, and closing. Evaluate and give feedback for reviews of deli counter staff, ensure training of new hires and ongoing training for current staff, and assist in development of training materials for counter staff.
  • Accountability: Monitor shrink, utilize logbook, shrink log, transfer logs, and accept responsibility for own actions.
Requirements
  • Relevant supervisory experience, self-motivated, organized, responsible, and flexible.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft, Excel).
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Food safe Certification.
  • Ability to work with a team to achieve departmental/store goals.
  • Experience with natural foods.
  • English proficiency.
