Job Summary:The Calvert County McKinney-Vento Program aims to address the need for mental health support and services for students facing housing instability. As a Mental Health Advocate, you will work closely with students, staff, and community partners to provide trauma-informed care and support.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide individual and group counseling to students using yoga, mindfulness, and expressive arts.
- Coach and mentor students on setting goals and achieving those goals.
- Help students process through traumatic events and build social-emotional skills.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop and implement individualized support plans.
- Mental Health background and certification as a Yoga Instructor and Art Instructor/Therapist.
- Excellent communication and human relations skills.
- Experience with yoga, art therapy, and mindfulness strategies.
- Background in social work or other mental health services.
The position requires significant periods of walking and standing, as well as modeling yoga poses. A flexible work schedule may be required.
Terms of Employment:This is a 12-month position with a salary of $42.00 per hour. The employment is contingent upon continued grant funding and need.
