About the Role

Duke Health is seeking a skilled Digital Imaging Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a critical role in supporting the acquisition and distribution of digital patient records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Access and manage patient records, images, and data via our Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and other healthcare applications.
  • Utilize imaging equipment and established procedures to create CDs/DVDs for customers and import/export image data on various media.
  • Operate the Digital Media Creator (DMC) equipment to create CDs or DVDs containing imaging studies in DICOM format at the request of patients, providers, hospitals, and other entities.
  • Fulfill requests for Duke Health images by pushing DICOM images from PACS to Powershare and vice versa.
  • Process orders from providers to store images in PACS using the Maestro Care Image Library Status Report.
  • Digitize images stored on plain film using the Digitizer.
  • Transfer images to designated DICOM destinations.
  • Identify unspecified exams and obtain signed patient authorization to release medical information as required by Duke Health policy.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with patients, healthcare staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Perform other tasks related to the operation and monitoring of radiology clinical and administrative information systems.
  • Troubleshoot problems with image quality and equipment malfunction and submit timely and effective service requests.
  • Display a helpful and professional attitude when assisting patients, healthcare staff, and coworkers.
  • Utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, MaestroCare, PACS, and Powershare to complete daily logs, correspond with healthcare professionals, and retrieve studies from various media.
  • Responsible for established quality assurance procedures for imported and exported image data.
  • Maintain auditing and tracking tools established for the file room.
  • Update patient demographics, merge images to studies, and update order information when defined as part of established procedures or import/export of images data.
Requirements
  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
  • One year of experience in healthcare or PACS support, radiology, or customer service.
  • North Carolina Driver's License.
