Composite Materials Specialist

Job Description

The Structures Company is seeking experienced professionals to support our commercial space operations department.

This is a full-time contract position at a leading aerospace facility, requiring a strong background in composite materials and fabrication.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for accomplishing assigned modification and repair work on composite structures.
  • Perform precise trimming, drilling, and finishing of composite component parts and assemblies.
  • Assembly of composite structures, including layup, bonding, and fastener applications.
  • Perform surface preparations, hand abrade and power abrasion techniques within company process specification documentation.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years working with carbon fiber and fiberglass composite materials, assemblies, and tooling.
  • Preferred to have a valid FAA approved Airframe and Powerplant license (A&P License).
  • Must be familiar with industry practices for composite assemblies and materials.

Physical and/or Additional Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel 25% or more of the time.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods 8 hours min.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and be able to maneuver in tight spaces- 3+ hours min.
