Job Overview

South Middlesex Opportunity Council (SMOC) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Program Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of our shelter residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and enforce household rules and routines to maintain a safe and secure environment.
  • Respond to emergency situations with calmness and effectiveness.
  • Provide written communication in logs at the end of each shift.
  • Offer support and guidance to residents as needed.
  • Attend staff meetings, group trainings, and supervisions as required.
  • Accept donations and oversee volunteer activities.
  • Uphold confidentiality and maintain the trust of our clients.
  • Drive the SMOC Program van to transport clients.
  • Engage with clients to understand and address their needs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Sensitivity to low-income families of diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Bilingual skills strongly preferred.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Working Conditions

As a Program Specialist, you will have direct or incidental contact with clients served by SMOC in various programs. A successful background check is required.
