Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Juvenile Intake Assessment Specialist to join our team at the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, KS. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for working with youth and their families to complete the intake process, assess their needs, and provide referrals for social and intervention services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete intake reports, property inventories, pat-searches, fingerprinting, and photographing of juveniles
  • Assess juveniles using state-mandated screening instruments
  • Transport youth to emergency shelter when necessary
  • Provide referrals for social and intervention services
  • Complete all required reports and paperwork within prescribed timeframes
  • Regular contact with county law enforcement agencies, court and legal staff, detention centers, social agencies, juveniles, and their families or guardians
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED required and 2 years of college coursework in human services or other related field; or 2 years' experience working with youth and families; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must pass criminal history/background check and Child Abuse/Neglect Registry
  • Must be able to be certified in performing First Aid and CPR
  • Must be able to be certified in physical restraint techniques
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, record keeping, and written communication skills
  • Must have a valid Driver's License
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
Salary and Benefits
