Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Medical Surgical Travel Nurse to join our team at St. Luke's Meridian Medical Center. As a Medical Surgical Travel Nurse, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, providing high-quality patient care and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care to Medical Surgical patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized patient care plans
- Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physicians
- Monitor and report patient vital signs and changes in condition
- Participate in patient and family education, promoting health and wellness
- Document patient care and progress in the medical record
Requirements:
- 2 years of experience in Medical Surgical nursing
- Current BLS certification
- EPIC experience required
- Ability to read and interpret tele
- Willingness to take students and precept new travelers
Work Schedule:
- 12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM
- 5 weekend shifts in a 6-week period
Additional Information:
- Floating may include MedSurg 5, MedSurg 6, and a 9-bed overflow unit
- Unit-specific information: Department - MedSurg, Unit - MedSurg - 6th Floor, # of Beds - 42
- Required certifications: BLS
- Common titratable &/or set rate drips: heparin, PCAs, morphine drips
- Charge Nurse on each shift, ADT nurse helps with admits, discharges, and tasking
- Nurse aids/patient care techs ratio: 1:8
- RT Equipment: CPAP, BiPAP-RT manages, high flow
- Tele/monitor techs: Virtual Tele techs
- Orientation: 3 days of general orientation including EPIC training plus 2 shifts on-unit with a preceptor
- Dress Code: Any color as long as clean and professional
