Department: Paramedicine
Role Summary:
The primary responsibility of this role is to function as an educator for the Paramedicine degree program. The assignment will be ongoing, contingent upon program requirements and funding availability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of EMS agency operations, management, and leadership.
- Update and refine curriculum to align with evolving trends in the Paramedicine sector.
- Deliver instructional content in both traditional and online classroom settings.
- Conduct assessments to evaluate student learning outcomes.
- Create and sustain a positive educational atmosphere, demonstrating professionalism in all instructional activities.
- Collaborate effectively with EMS agency representatives to achieve program objectives.
- Operate under the guidance of the Paramedicine Program Director.
- Prepare laboratory settings for classes and assist in the cleanup following lab sessions.
- Serve as a lab instructor during practical sessions.
- Exhibit safe and proper handling of laboratory equipment and hazardous materials.
- Provide leadership and serve as a positive role model for students.
- Participate in annual program meetings.
- Contribute to the assessment of student learning and annual reporting.
- Maintain accurate student and course records.
- Keep current course outlines, objectives, and grading criteria for all classes.
- Implement innovative and adaptive teaching methodologies.
- Offer continuing education opportunities for the community.
- Complete all mandatory training requirements.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
Associate's degree
Experience:
A minimum of 3 years of field experience as a paramedic with an EMS agency.
Certifications:
- Current National Registry of EMTs certification as a Paramedic
- Current Oklahoma Paramedic license
- AHA BLS Provider
- AHA ACLS Provider
- AHA PALS/PEPP Provider
- Ability to educate and support students in mastering essential Paramedicine skills.
- Capability to assess student performance effectively.
- Ability to foster a positive learning environment and uphold professionalism.
- Capacity to adapt to curriculum changes and apply laboratory techniques.
- Ability to follow health and safety protocols.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- High level of initiative and ability to work independently as well as in a team.
- Proficiency in office technologies and educational tools.
- Commitment to ethical and professional conduct.
- Bachelor's degree.
- AHA BLS Instructor certification.
- AHA ACLS Instructor certification.
- AHA PALS/PEPP Instructor certification.
- PHTLS Provider certification.
- Prior teaching or field training experience.
- Familiarity with educational technology and simulation methods.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Work environment includes significant public interaction through various communication channels.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 75 lbs. unassisted.
- Engagement in activities within laboratory simulations.
- Compliance with safety regulations when handling hazardous materials.
