Job Title: Automation Mechanical Engineer

Overview

Metalcraft Automation Group, a division of Metalcraft of Mayville, Inc., is seeking a talented Automation Mechanical Engineer to support business growth. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing automated systems that meet the needs of our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the sales team to evaluate mechanical automation application feasibility and design concepts.
  • Design automated systems and equipment with the integration of robotics, including end of arm tools, tooling, and guarding.
  • Create detailed drawings of sheet metal, weldment, and assembly components of mechanical designs.
  • Provide system layouts and installation drawings.
  • Research, design, and evaluate mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet customer expectations.
  • Specify mechanical and pneumatic components for procurement and/or direct modification of products.
  • Select methods of production, fabrication, and operations of manufactured system components.
  • Conduct reach analysis and sizing of robotic arms.
  • Provide solutions to technical issues by applying problem-solving techniques.
  • Compile final system documentation packages.
  • Support and oversee projects from concept to completion.
  • Operate in a team environment to help meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Participate in project reviews and complete all necessary project management documents.
  • Research and stay current with best available technologies related to automation.
  • Help identify and cultivate new sales opportunities by building relationships with existing, new, and potential customers/vendors.

Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 3-5 years' minimum of Mechanical Engineering design experience.
  • Strong 2D and 3D CAD skills.
  • AutoCAD and SolidWorks with PDM experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Possess strong ME skill sets that will be utilized in the design of automation systems.
  • Able to translate automation conceptual designs into functional equipment.
  • Able to think analytically and creatively while keeping safety and cost in mind.
  • Able to operate on own initiative with minimal supervision, but also contribute as a team member.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office products.
  • SAP and Fanuc robot knowledge and experience is a plus.
