Job Summary

The Library Clerk is a paraprofessional role that plays a vital part in the successful operation of the academic library at Northern New Mexico College. This position assists with technical and user services, working on special projects as assigned by the Library Director. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Library Director.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain library operations in the absence of the director or senior staff, including opening and closing the facility and supervising student workers.
  • Perform routine circulation tasks, such as checking library materials in and out, recording fees, book repair, and other tasks necessary to ensure the efficient maintenance of circulating library materials.
  • Serve as the point person for regular book shelving and assist with collection maintenance.
  • Assist library patrons in using computers, equipment, and materials.
  • Address and resolve complaints from patrons and/or staff, or forward to the supervisor or senior library staff member, as necessary.
  • Report and log technical issues to the IT and facilities departments.
  • Stock and maintain library supplies, such as printers and cleaning supplies.
  • Keep relevant statistical records on library usage.
Requirements
  • An Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university in any subject.
  • One year of related work experience, which may include working in a bookstore or library, with collections in a museum or educational setting, computerized research online or using databases, teaching or training experience, or troubleshooting hardware and software.
Preferred Requirements
  • An Associate's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university in any subject.
  • Three years of related work experience at an academic, public, or school library.
Work Environment

Work is performed in a typical office environment.
