Role Summary: This position is integral to the surgical team, responsible for establishing and maintaining a sterile environment during surgical procedures. The Surgical Technician II will assist in the preparation of surgical instruments, support surgeons in their tasks, and ensure that patients are properly draped for surgery. This role involves actively participating in surgical operations by providing instruments and supplies, holding retractors, and anticipating the needs of the surgical team throughout the procedure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain the sterile field for surgical operations.
- Assist surgeons with gowning, gloving, and patient draping.
- Support the surgical team by passing instruments and supplies during procedures.
- Manage the distribution of supplies and perform maintenance on surgical equipment as necessary.
- Adhere to all regulations and policies to ensure patient safety and privacy.
- May assist in training and orienting new staff members.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Completion of an accredited surgical technology program or equivalent military training.
Certification:
- BLS - Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification.
Experience:
- Minimum of one year of relevant experience in a surgical setting.
Skills and Competencies:
- Comprehensive knowledge of surgical instruments, procedures, and equipment.
- Ability to interpret and follow various forms of instructions and data.
- Basic understanding of human anatomy and medical terminology.
- Strong communication skills to convey sensitive information clearly.
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve standard issues.
- Capacity to build effective relationships with colleagues and healthcare providers.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position with a regular day shift, Monday through Friday, totaling 40 hours per week.
Compensation:
The pay range for this position is $48.63 to $58.35 per hour, subject to variation based on experience, education, and location.
