Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Maintenance Foreman and/or Site Manager, the Plant Mechanic is responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on the aggregate plant.

Main Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair problems with plant equipment, including motors, gearboxes, pulleys, bearings, rollers, conveyor belts, v-belts, pumps, screens, and crushers.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance tasks as outlined by the Foreman and/or Site Manager.
  • Remove and replace components for repair or replacement, including hydraulic systems and components.
  • Inspect and replace parts such as crusher liners and screen media.
  • Overhaul or rebuild serviceable components.
  • Perform major welding and cutting tasks, including arc-welding and cutting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • 5 years minimum experience in a similar industry or field.
  • Knowledge of welding materials, welding properties, and various types of metals.
  • Welding experience and certification strongly preferred.
  • Ability to perform bracing, welding, arc-welding, and cutting tasks.
  • Ability to use tools required for the job.
  • Ability to change crusher liners without guidance.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, lift, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch, reach, balance, crawl, and climb.
  • Good vision (naturally or with correction).
  • Able to lift 50 pounds on a routine basis.
  • Able to work in wet and dry conditions and extreme heat and cold.
  • Work in an environment that may include mechanical parts, airborne particles, and moderate to loud noises requiring the consistent use of proper PPE.
  • Ability to walk on uneven surfaces.
