Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Construction Specialist to join our team at the City of Altamonte Springs, FL. As a key member of our Public Works department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to concrete construction and maintenance of our stormwater system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform concrete type work, including foundations, spillways, retaining walls, and other structures
  • Assist in all concrete maintenance duties, including block and brick laying, carpentry work, and form setting
  • Operate light and heavy equipment, including concrete mixers, saws, compressors, and generators
  • Drive a dump truck and assist in the maintenance of City retention ponds
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, including assisting Streets and Sanitation in spring clean-up and emergency situations
Requirements
  • Minimum six months experience finishing concrete, block and brick-work, or one year experience in a construction trade
  • Valid driver license, with the ability to obtain a Florida driver license within thirty days of employment
  • Ability to work from a boat and assist in the operation and maintenance of stormwater pumps and aquatic weed control
  • Must be available for emergency callouts and on-call duty
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the installation of storm drainage pipes
  • General carpentry skills
  • Class C Stormwater license
  • Valid State of Florida Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) with air brake endorsement
  • Qualified Stormwater Management Inspector (erosion and sediment control)
