Software Development Engineer, EC2 Edge Computing

We are seeking a skilled Software Development Engineer to join our team at Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in the EC2 Edge Computing department. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and integrating systems that streamline operational processes for our customers.
Your primary focus will be on developing innovative technologies in a large distributed computing environment, collaborating with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians to conceive and bring systems solutions to the market. You will work in an agile and evolving environment to consistently deliver high-quality solutions.

Our team is focused on delivering software-defined networking infrastructure to manage the connectivity to customer sites around the world. We own the health, scalability, and stability of the secured networking connectivity to customer's Outposts.
You will work with subject matter experts in enterprise compute hardware, operating systems, networking, and customer-facing APIs to deliver the best customer experience in edge cloud computing.

What We're Looking ForWe are looking for a hands-on professional who is passionate about owning and continuously improving end-to-end technical processes through system solutions. You will be challenged to think big and support Outpost networking infrastructure by designing, building, and integrating systems that streamline operational processes.
A successful candidate will be customer-focused, passionate about using systems to solve complex problems, and able to balance delivering incremental improvements with long-term vision. A deep technical understanding and a desire to learn about complex systems is a must as you will bridge processes across many nuanced and complex systems.
Solid systems development fundamentals and systems design skills will provide the foundation for your initial onboarding as you are coached and mentored by engineering and technical business experts to keep you on your desired career trajectory.
Basic Qualifications3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Knowledge of professional software engineering and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence
Preferred Qualifications5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
5+ years of contributing to new and current systems architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
