Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Athletic Training Services Specialist to join our team at JAG Physical Therapy. As an Athletic Trainer, you will play a vital role in providing athletic training services to athletes and organizations under our outreach contracts. Your primary responsibilities will include injury assessment and rehabilitation, program development for athletic events, and effective communication with stakeholders, including athletes and healthcare professionals.

Essential Functions
  • Athletic Training Program Development
    • Establish and maintain an effective athletic training program for contracted organizations, including a functional athletic training room and updated policies and procedures manual.
  • Athletic Events and Competition
    • Provide athletic trainer services for athletic events and competition.
  • Injury Assessment and Treatment
    • Provide first aid and injury assessment/treatment/rehabilitation/reconditioning for athletes affiliated with contracted organizations.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping
    • Document injuries, illnesses, treatments, rehabilitation, etc., in accordance with JAG PT policy and state licensure professional practice standards.
  • Environmental Safety and Health Education
    • Create a safe playing environment by monitoring and controlling environmental risks.
  • Community Outreach and Education
    • Provide in-services and educational programs to local schools, coaches, athletes, and communities on health and fitness-related topics.
  • Workers Compensation and Insurance Management
    • Act as the workers' compensation case manager for contracted teams, submitting insurance information, facilitating referrals, tracking compensation claims, and reporting back within HIPAA/FERPA guidelines.
  • Clinical Critical Thinking and Communication
    • Utilize effective communication skills to involve athletes, families, and others in plan of care (within HIPAA/FERPA guidelines).
  • Collaboration and Teamwork
    • Collaborate with other JAG PT professionals in programs such as Physical Therapy and physician-related services.
  • Administrative Duties and Operations
    • Assist with departmental administrative duties and day-to-day operations of facilities when not assigned to outreach locations.
  • Marketing and Growth Initiatives
    • Contribute to marketing and promotional initiatives, as well as departmental improvement and growth projects.
  • Clinical Decision-Making and Planning
    • Utilize clinical critical thinking and demonstrate ability to translate plans into action, keeping in mind both short-term and long-term goals and outcomes.
  • Supply and Equipment Management
    • Oversee the ordering of athletic trainer supplies and equipment pertaining to the athletic training department and maintain an up-to-date inventory.
Minimum Requirements
  • Education and Certification
    • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Athletic Training (CAATE-approved program) and completion of BOC certification.
  • Licensure and Clearances
    • Licensed in the state of practice as an Athletic Trainer.
    • Department of Education clearance (if working in secondary schools and applicable in the state of practice).
  • Professional Development
    • Maintain the BOC-required 50 CEUs per certification period (every two years).
  • Additional Qualifications
    • Current BLS certification.
    • Maintain Personal Liability Insurance.
    • Flexibility and adaptability necessary to adjust to fluid situations is a must.
