About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced ESOL Instructor to join our team at the Arab American Family Support Center. As an ESOL Instructor, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality English language instruction to adult learners in our Readiness Initiatives Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Deliver Instructional Content: Create and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to the needs of our students, focusing on contextualized instruction that promotes civic and English language skills.
  • Classroom Management and Instruction: Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and growth, utilizing a communicative approach and incorporating civic engagement, job readiness, and technology.
  • Student Support and Progress Monitoring: Provide individualized support to students, monitor their progress, and adapt instruction to meet their needs.
  • Curriculum Development and Implementation: Collaborate with the Program Director and Associate Director to evaluate and refine curricula and activity plans, ensuring success for adult learners.
  • Administrative Tasks: Maintain accurate student attendance records, ensure all paperwork and documentation is completed in a timely manner, and report any issues in the classroom to the supervisor.
Requirements
  • Education and Certification: Bachelor's degree required, with teaching certification (TESLA, TESOL, CELTA, etc.) and BEST Plus certification.
  • Teaching Experience: Proven experience in teaching beginner adult students, including Literacy Learners, with a focus on creating student-centered learning environments.
  • Skills and Qualities: Excellent writing and editing skills, strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills, flexibility, and a commitment to cultural responsiveness, trauma-informed education, and language instruction.
  • Professional Development: Willingness to complete 18 hours of professional development training each year and a passion for AAFSC's mission and vision.
