Position Overview:

This vital position is responsible for delivering new overhead and underground electrical services to our clientele. The role encompasses both the construction and maintenance of primary and secondary electric lines, ensuring reliable service delivery.

COMPENSATION:
$51.45 per hour (Compensation is based on the applicant's qualifications, skills, and experience.)

SUPERVISORY STRUCTURE:
Reports to the Electric Operations Supervisor.

WORK LOCATION:
Cheyenne, Wyoming
Applicants must reside within a 30-mile radius and be able to reach the Cheyenne Service Center within 30 minutes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Install and connect overhead and underground electrical services and transformers.
2. Erect poles, pull wires, and connect transformers; troubleshoot related issues.
3. Conduct hot work operations (up to 25 KV).
4. Install, maintain, and remove overhead and underground distribution systems.
5. Perform switching operations for District and System Control.
6. Monitor and read customer voltage/sets and recording volt meters as necessary.
7. Locate and repair underground cable faults.
8. Manage primary and secondary spans and repair lines.
9. Operate cutout doors to energize or de-energize lines and transformers.
10. Complete service orders for meter installation and removal.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
1. Handle collections and reconnections for non-payment.
2. Perform tree trimming as needed.
3. Investigate service outages.
4. Conduct vehicle maintenance.
5. Repair and install PAL lighting systems.
6. Maximeter lines and transformers.
7. Conduct PCB tests and cleanup.
8. Manage substation operations, including reading 230 KV substations and generating reports.

REQUIREMENTS:
1. High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
2. Completion of a recognized four (4) year apprenticeship program or equivalent experience is required.
3. Must possess and maintain a valid Wyoming CDL Class A, with air brake endorsement, or have the ability to obtain one within the first six months of employment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
1. Proficient understanding of Black Hills Energy's Electric Distribution System and associated safety protocols.
2. Comprehensive knowledge of electrical construction standards, methods, and materials.
3. Familiarity with voltage testing for various distribution transformer configurations.
4. Ability to locate underground cables effectively.
5. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
