Position Overview:

The IT Department at Tallgrass Energy is in search of a skilled Facilities Project Management Specialist to oversee ongoing and upcoming construction and maintenance projects. This role will be responsible for managing all facets of facility-related initiatives, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget. The ideal candidate will possess 5 to 8 years of relevant experience and a solid understanding of hardware and software project management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute project requirements to achieve set objectives.
  • Utilize project management software (JIRA) to monitor facility projects and generate financial reports.
  • Demonstrate expertise in space planning and proficiency in design software such as Bluebeam and REVT CAD.
  • Collaborate with Facilities teams to allocate resources for projects.
  • Provide mentorship to Facilities staff to enhance their project management capabilities.
  • Clearly define and communicate roles for project team members.
  • Establish project budgets, monitor expenditures, and report on financial status.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans with internal stakeholders and facility resources.
  • Create project briefs and scoping documents in collaboration with internal teams.
  • Ensure all project requirements are contained within the defined scope.
  • Conduct risk management planning, including risk identification and mitigation strategies.
  • Manage deliverables from both internal customers and external suppliers.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies for key stakeholders.
  • Document and resolve issues, escalating as necessary to management.
  • Work effectively within a complex organizational structure across multiple locations.
  • Facilitate process and organizational change management.
  • Maintain strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Act as a collaborative team member and mentor.
  • Prioritize personal safety and the safety of company assets and personnel.
Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
Experience:
  • 5 to 8 years of experience in facilities project management.
  • Familiarity with hardware and software project management.
  • Proficient in project management software, particularly JIRA.
  • Strong financial acumen for budget tracking and reporting.
  • Experience managing project scope, costs, schedules, and staffing.
  • Excellent skills in risk management and mitigation.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proven track record of mentoring and leading project teams.
  • Experience in a highly matrixed organizational environment.
  • Commitment to personal and workplace safety.
Certifications:
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, PgMP) preferred but not mandatory.
Competencies:
  • Ability to perform all essential job functions.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to follow directions and adhere to schedules.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with effective escalation capabilities.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands for this position include:
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout the facility.
  • Driving and operating office equipment.
  • Visual acuity for detailed work.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 lbs.
  • Minimal safety hazards in a general office environment.
Working Conditions:
  • Availability to respond to communications during and outside of working hours.
  • Successful candidates will undergo a drug screening and background check.
Supervisory Role:

This position includes an informal mentoring aspect.

Preferred Qualifications:

Additional qualifications that may enhance candidacy:
  • Project Management certification (PMP, etc.), LEED, S.M.S.T.S, IOSH, CFM, CPMM, CHFM, CCM, PE.
  • Experience in construction management, facility renovations, and related activities.
  • Ability to integrate facilities and software project management experience.
