Position Overview
The Benefits Administrator is responsible for the daily management, promotion, and assessment of the benefit programs at Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center (CCOC) for current, former, and retired staff members.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborates with the Benefits Manager to ensure adherence to all regulations impacting benefits, hospital policies, and provisions outlined in Benefit Plan Documents/Certificates. Provides assistance by developing, executing, interpreting, and disseminating benefit policies and procedures throughout the organization and with external vendors/brokers.
Manages all elements of two Workers' Compensation Policies, which includes reviewing the Employee First Report of Injury, analyzing and tracking claims as handled by the Third Party Administrator (TPA), attending mediation/hearings on behalf of Crystal Clinic, and liaising with legal counsel.
Supervises employee injury reporting, guarantees thorough investigations of incidents, and aids leadership in implementing measures to enhance safety. Acts as a member of the Emergency Management (Safety) Committee.
Oversees absence and disability management, ensuring compliance with FMLA and Crystal Clinic's Leave of Absence Policies. Effectively communicates with employees and keeps leadership informed on the status of leaves. Ensures the HRIS is updated correctly and invoices employees for missed benefit premiums. Manages the Transitional Work Program (TWP) and coordinates return-to-work plans with restrictions.
Identifies when ADA Accommodations may be necessary and oversees the process through determination.
Evaluates eligibility for and processes all midyear benefit modifications due to qualifying events, changes in employment status, and/or Medical Support Orders.
Maintains employee records and dependent eligibility within HRIS and with vendors. Manages, reconciles, and addresses inquiries regarding all benefit, 401(k), and wellness plans/programs. Assists with Open Enrollment and monthly vendor invoicing as required.
Must uphold confidentiality regarding patient, physician/employee, and financial information.
Possesses a strong understanding of business mathematics. Demonstrates effective time management, prioritization, and the ability to meet deadlines. Capable of preparing written communications, generating ad hoc reports, enrollment censuses, and proficient in combining/comparing multiple spreadsheets in Excel. Must be accountable, detail-oriented, analytical, and an independent thinker with exceptional problem-solving abilities.
Keeps the Benefits Manager updated on significant issues.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED required. An Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Business, Human Resource Administration, Accounting, or a related field is preferred.
Experience: Three to Five (3-5) years of experience in benefits administration is highly preferred. Previous experience in Workers Compensation is advantageous.
Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word, with advanced skills in Excel required. Experience with an HRIS is essential. Familiarity with UKG Ready is a plus.
