About the Opportunity

SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking a highly skilled Senior Avian Wildlife Specialist to join our team in Austin, TX. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in conducting avian surveys and habitat assessments for various projects.

We are looking for an experienced professional with a strong background in biology, ecology, or a related field. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of avian species, particularly those occurring in Texas and neighboring states. They should also possess excellent identification skills by sight and sound, as well as experience in data collection and analysis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct avian surveys and habitat assessments in accordance with federal and state guidelines.
  • Identify birds by sight and sound, and record accurate field notes.
  • Collect and analyze data using digital tablets and GPS units.
  • Prepare technical documents, including reports and literature reviews.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve project goals and objectives.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Ecology, or a related field.
  • At least three years' experience conducting avian surveys and habitat assessments.
  • Strong identification skills of shorebirds, eagles, raptors, and other avian species.
  • Experience in data collection and analysis using digital tablets and GPS units.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $74,954.88 - $96,532.80 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Regular-status employees are eligible for performance bonuses, medical, dental, vision, employee assistance, wellness, life, and disability plans, as well as participation in the SWCA 401(k) Profit Sharing Plan and Trust.
