Job Title: Research Associate
Job Summary:
The National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) is a research institution dedicated to advancing the field of astronomy. We are seeking a highly skilled Research Associate to join our team and contribute to the development of a new telescope antenna.
Job Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute test observations to characterize antenna performance.
- Test antenna performance in various weather conditions.
- Apply single-dish and interferometric methods for testing.
- Develop data analysis procedures.
- Interact with engineers and scientists to troubleshoot system issues.
- Contribute to calibration strategies for the new telescope.
- Carry out independent astronomical research.
- Debug prototype failures and assist with maintenance.
Requirements:
- PhD in Astronomy, Astrophysics, Physics, or a related field.
- Experience in radio astronomy instrumentation and commissioning.
- Fluency in English and excellent communication skills.
