Job Description Summary

As a Mechanical Design Engineer - Exhaust Systems, you will be responsible for the design and development of exhaust system hardware. This includes mechanical analysis, design, and interfacing with the drafting team to issue drawings, as well as working with the manufacturing team to deliver parts. You will execute within a well-defined operations framework, following a step-by-step sequence of standard operational tasks to achieve an end result.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned components using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements. This work will include mechanical engineering for Nozzle technology development, working closely with drafting, manufacturing, and test teams.
  • Develop knowledge of a technical discipline, using prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
  • Use some level of judgment and have the ability to propose different solutions within set parameters with guidance. Use prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks, having access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of your team to arrive at decisions.
  • A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills, providing informal guidance to new team members.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • Professional experience in Design Engineering.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance at the secret level.
Desired Characteristics
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in Design Engineering.
  • Master's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Existing US Government Secret clearance.
  • Demonstrated experience with exhaust nozzles, structures, ducts, and liners.
  • In-depth understanding of engineering technology and tools such as Ansys, Siemens NX, Finite Element Analysis, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
  • Familiarity with GE design practices, processes, and products.
  • Engine design familiarization.
  • Operational experience working in and managing complex, distributed teams.
  • Systems level thinking in a teaming environment.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguous design challenges/scenarios and solve open-ended problems with limited requirements.
  • Desire to lead projects with established project management skills.
  • Innovation and creativity.
  • Passionate, can-do, hands-on approach.
  • Ability to guide and influence others.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
