Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Rigger 1st Class to join our team at Metro Machine Corp DBA General Dynamics NASSCO Bremerton. As a Rigger 1st Class, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently accomplishing work in accordance with work specifications, with a focus on quality and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist other trades in removing equipment and/or structural components using lifting equipment such as chain falls, cranes, shackles, and slings.
  • Meet the requirements of an Outside Machinist, including advanced knowledge of crane signals and terminologies, and the ability to communicate with crane operators via hand signals or voice radios.
  • Determine the load weight and center gravity when rigging equipment, and select the correct rigging equipment for the current task.
  • Use complex multipoint suspension techniques to maneuver loads and move objects from heights of 50ft to 70ft.
  • Estimate the weight needed to accomplish weight tests for different types of ship equipment.
  • Carry a full tool bag and assist outside machinists in removing, disassembling, repairing, reassembling, and reinstalling ship equipment.
Requirements
  • Minimum 8-12 years of shipyard rigging experience.
  • Ability to work at heights of 20ft or higher.
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, kneel, and crawl for long periods of time.
  • Adherence to and understanding of the company's safety policies and industrial safety requirements.
  • OSHA 1926 Subpart CC certification.
Working Relationships

This position reports to the shop supervisor and develops and maintains a positive working relationship with other welders and supports a team approach in the pursuit of common company goals.

  • Evening, weekend, and/or extended hours may be required.
  • Ability to access all work locations, including government and private shipyards and/or vessels.
Pay Range

$32.36 per hour.
