Job Overview

Johnson Controls is seeking a highly skilled Building System Surveyor to support our security sales associates in performing on-time and accurate customer site surveys. As a key member of our team, you will develop security equipment estimates and project design deliverables in support of our Center of Excellence Network.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial security, including intrusion detection, access control, IP video, and fire alarm systems. You will be responsible for conducting timely and accurate security surveys and on-site equipment assessments, coordinating with sub-contractor representatives, and delivering COE survey documentation and deliverables.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct security surveys and on-site equipment assessments to meet pre-sale support request needs
  • Coordinate with sub-contractor representatives to obtain project bid quotes and pricing proposals
  • Complete and deliver COE survey documentation and deliverables utilizing appropriate platforms
  • Maintain a strong familiarity with local sub-contractor resource availability and competencies
  • Proactively monitor and track AHJ local expectations, regulations, and permitting requirements
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 5 years of industry experience, commercial installation or commercial sales
  • Minimum of five years of field experience in commercial security, including intrusion detection, access control, IP video, and fire alarm systems
  • Experience with IP networking common practices, including up to a minimum Layer 3 basic concepts and functions
  • Experience with computer-aided drafting software
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills and confidence to make sound business-conscious decisions in a stressful environment
  • Strong PC proficiency, including Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint
  • Ability to learn JCI specific platforms, including Salesforce, ArcSite, and MASterMind
  • Time management and ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Ability to drive to customer and JCI branch locations
  • Occasional travel, but limited
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of two years of experience in proficient system design and installation/cost estimating of security equipment in a commercial sales environment
