Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional veterinary care to our research animals, including medical treatment, surgery, and preventative care.
  • Develop and implement animal care protocols to ensure the highest standards of animal welfare.
  • Collaborate with our research teams to design and implement studies that meet the highest standards of animal care and welfare.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advances in veterinary medicine and animal care, and apply this knowledge to improve our animal care programs.
  • Work closely with our veterinary residents and technicians to provide training and mentorship.
Requirements
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree from an accredited veterinary school.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a practicing veterinarian, with a strong background in laboratory animal medicine.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with research teams and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, with a high level of independence and initiative.
  • License to practice veterinary medicine in Minnesota, with the ability to obtain certification in laboratory animal medicine (ACLAM) within 3 months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1 year or more of experience in laboratory animal medicine, with a strong background in research animal care.
  • ACLAM certification, eligibility, or qualifications leading to eligibility.
  • Working knowledge of federal laws and regulations governing the use of animals in research, including AAALAC-accreditation and industry guidelines.
  • Advanced computer skills, including experience with spreadsheets, word processing, and presentation software.
