Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Acute Care Microbiology.
  • Associate's Degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Chemistry.
  • National Certification as a Medical Technician.
  • State licensure as required (applicable states include CA, FL, GA, HI, LA, MT, NV, NY, ND, RI, WV).
Knowledge and Skills

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Proficiency in laboratory methods and a solid understanding of microbiology and infectious disease processes.
  • Awareness of laboratory accreditation and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize tasks effectively.
Key Responsibilities

The Microbiology Technician will be responsible for:

  • Processing and testing specimens, including moderate and high complexity testing.
  • Ensuring timely and compliant specimen processing and testing according to departmental policies and accrediting agency standards.
  • Conducting preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment as per departmental schedules.
  • Utilizing problem-solving skills to maintain accuracy in test results and equipment performance.
  • Understanding and adhering to laboratory quality control and assurance protocols.
