This role includes assisting with the patient meal tray line and ensuring that all food service needs are met effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare meal tray carts for lunch and dinner based on patient selections and dietary orders.
- Deliver menus to patient rooms, explaining the menu options and offering suggestions to enhance their dining experience.
- Ensure timely delivery of meal trays to patients, addressing any missing items and providing alternative selections as needed.
- Collect meal trays from patient rooms and kitchens, ensuring no personal items are left behind, and maintain cleanliness of the food carts.
- Assist patients in completing their menu selections, ensuring all dietary preferences and condiments are accurately noted.
- Monitor new admissions or dietary changes, returning completed menus to the dietary office for processing.
- Facilitate the delivery of late trays, guest trays, and isolation trays, securing necessary approvals prior to delivery.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of utility carts and participate in daily patient satisfaction surveys.
- Provide clerical assistance to the dietary office, including managing phone inquiries and addressing requests from the hospitality team.
- Generate standard reports related to meal tallies and dietary orders using the computer system.
- Participate in departmental training sessions as required.
- Adhere to patient confidentiality protocols and demonstrate flexibility in performing various kitchen roles as needed.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to all patients, addressing any concerns and communicating them to the Director of Dietary.
- Uphold a respectful and professional environment for patients, families, visitors, and colleagues.
- Perform additional tasks as directed, adapting to the workload of the department.
Education
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Completion of specialized training, including a departmental in-service training program within the first month of employment, focusing on dietary restrictions and therapeutic diets.
- Ability to understand and follow hospital policies and procedures.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in English to fulfill job responsibilities.
- Exhibit ethical behavior aligned with the hospital's mission and values, fostering trust and integrity.
- Demonstrate professionalism and excellent customer service in interactions with patients and colleagues.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Attend required safety training and articulate responsibilities related to safety protocols.
- Present a professional appearance suitable for the work environment.
- Consistently report to work on time and meet attendance standards.
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment and basic math skills.
