Job Title: Assistant Professor of Video Art

Alfred University's School of Art and Design invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Video Art position to begin August 2025.

Job Description

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in the practice and instruction of Video Art, with a focus on synchronized multi-screen projection and video installations. The candidate's work should demonstrate solid visual and performative abilities, as well as a deep knowledge of the history and theories of Video Art with culturally diverse perspectives.

The School of Art and Design at Alfred University offers a unique environment for research and practice, with state-of-the-art video studios and a faculty committed to excellence and impact in teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in Video Art and as part of faculty rotation in the first year of the Foundations Program.

Responsibilities
  • Teach video art courses, including shooting, processing, editing, and synchronizing multi-screen video works
  • Develop and maintain a research trajectory to support continued promotion
  • Support and assist in creating intersections for students, faculty, staff, and visitors that will transform people's lives
  • Maintain a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and a high degree of cultural competence and respect for a wide range of identities and experiences
  • Participate in all required assigned training, including safety training, and will comply with safety rules, regulations, and protocols
  • Contribute to the University's overall success by performing other duties as assigned, including recruitment efforts
Requirements
  • Minimum qualifications include an M.F.A. or its equivalent
  • Active professional creative practice
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence and impact in teaching
  • Three years of college-level teaching experience is preferred
