Environmental Services Technician

SUMMARY: Vital to the operational efficiency of healthcare facilities, ensuring compliance with health regulations and standards for cleanliness, safety, and infection prevention. Responsible for maintaining a hygienic environment across various designated areas, including both patient and non-patient zones. Duties include the washing, drying, and transportation of linens as required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
+ High school diploma or equivalent; or one to three months of relevant experience and/or training; or a suitable combination of education and experience is necessary.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, and/or REGISTRATIONS: Not applicable.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Conducts daily cleaning of occupied patient rooms and upon patient discharge.
2. Adheres strictly to infection control protocols.
3. Maintains cleanliness in assigned hospital areas and may extend responsibilities to affiliated facilities.
4. Collects, sorts, and processes soiled linens, ensuring proper drying, sorting, and folding of clean linens. Records linen usage by department.
5. Ensures all cleaning agents are properly labeled and stored in accordance with established policies and OSHA regulations.
6. Familiarizes with all chemicals utilized in the laundry area and understands the location and application of material safety data sheets (MSDS).
7. Engages in all assigned cleaning tasks, which may include dusting, washing, drying, mopping, vacuuming, moving furniture, and disposing of waste.
8. Performs additional duties as assigned.
