Powder Coating Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY
The Powder Coating Specialist is responsible for applying high-quality finishes to various products, ensuring adherence to specified color and quality standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Interpret work orders or production schedules to identify required colors for each job.
- Operate all necessary coating machinery, including spray guns, hoppers, and collection systems.
- Conduct inspections of incoming parts for any cosmetic defects prior to the painting process.
- Apply both primary and finishing coats on all sides of products and smaller components, utilizing a limited selection of colors and paint types, while adjusting nozzles and pressures as needed to achieve a Class B/A finish.
- Consistently deliver a Class B/A finish with minimal imperfections through intermediate application techniques.
- Handle materials as necessary and utilize material handling equipment effectively.
- Test and calibrate equipment under management supervision to ensure optimal air and powder settings, as well as proper application techniques.
- Identify and troubleshoot powder coating equipment and production challenges in collaboration with management and relevant personnel.
- Maintain cleanliness of spray booths, guns, and hoppers during color transitions to prevent contamination.
- Exhibit excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Achieve and maintain a 97% quality standard on all painted items.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- 2-3 years of experience in powder coating or a similar manufacturing setting.
- Proven ability to produce high-quality Class B/A painted components.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening and background check.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift for up to 8 hours daily.
- Visual acuity for close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
- Capability to lift, push, pull, and/or carry up to 50 lbs. consistently.
- Willingness to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed.
- Exposure to moderately loud noise levels in a manufacturing environment.
- Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
