Aviation Professor

Eastern Michigan University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in our Aviation Program, which includes Aviation Management Technology & Aviation Flight Technology.

• Teach contractual load of courses as assigned by the department or school.
• Work with the school director in planning, marketing and recruiting activities.
• Confer periodically with the Department Head/School Director on curriculum and instruction issues.
• Assist in coordinating assigned co-op students' activities.
• Student advising.
• Engage in research and dissemination of pursuits that enable them to remain current in their respective disciplines.
• Provide other support service to the department, college and/or university, if applicable.
• Perform related departmental duties as required.

• An earned doctoral degree in Aviation or related field.
• Have taught aviation-related courses on either a full-time or part-time basis, at a two/four-year institution of higher learning.
• Have curriculum skills to design/redesign course content as new technologies emerge, prepare Syllabi, exams, activities, etc.
• Have industry connections or be willing to make them in order to facilitate student internships or co-op experiences.
• Have technical usage experience and teaching knowledge for using online course shells.
• Have good written and oral/interpersonal communication skills.
• Have experience connecting with and mentoring students regarding local, state, or national professional organizations.

• Conducted research, published scholarly works, participated on research committees, or presented at professional meetings/workshops in areas relevant to the aviation industry.
