Position Overview:

We are seeking a committed researcher to undertake a postdoctoral role within the Heavy Element and Separation Science Group, part of the Chemical Sciences & Engineering Division.

  • Engage in pioneering research aimed at enhancing the cleanup and remediation of complex environmental challenges.
  • Investigate the chemistry associated with plutonium oxide clusters, nanoparticles, and colloids to facilitate effective chemical separations.
  • Produce plutonium oxide nanoparticles and apply a range of sophisticated characterization methodologies.
  • Collaborate with specialists in inorganic and physical chemistry, separation science, and condensed matter physics.
  • Participate in innovative initiatives involving machine learning and synchrotron science.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a strong enthusiasm for innovative research.
  • Possess expertise in inorganic chemistry, aqueous solution chemistry, colloid chemistry, or environmental chemistry.
  • Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills suitable for presentations and scholarly publications.
  • Have experience with materials characterization techniques, including IR, Raman, and X-ray scattering.
  • Hold a Ph.D. in chemistry or a related discipline.
