Job Title: Arts Education Program Manager

Montalvo Arts Center is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Arts Education Program Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Outreach and Education department, you will be responsible for managing a range of arts education and community engagement programs.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage arts education programs, including Summer Arts Camps, Performing Arts Series for Students, Student and Public Field Trips and Extensions, and other programs as needed.
  • Develop and implement outreach and community engagement programs, including outreach for underserved student populations in arts education programs, Community Engagement Festivals, and other programs as needed.
  • Provide department and program administration, including scheduling, booking, budget and payment tracking, petty cash management, marketing and outreach, ticketing software navigation, program registration, reporting for accounting and development, facility planning and coordination.
  • Support program development and implementation of the department's program portfolio.
  • Support development of institutional resources, including teacher welcome packets/toolkits, student study guides, and lesson plan ideation and review.
  • Recruit, interview, train, and supervise camp staff, as well as both adult and youth program staff, volunteers, and interns, including writing job descriptions.
  • Assist and interact with artists, both locally and internationally, during programs and events.
  • Attend events to oversee operations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Education, arts, or related fields, or a combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience managing multi-disciplinary arts education administration teams with familiarity on program development and overseeing staff and working with the public.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Artist and Community/Cultural Empowerment strategies and programming.
  • Interest, experience, and ability to work and interact with diverse populations, including underserved groups, youth, adult, artist, parent, and educator with a wide range of needs and expectations.
  • Strong people management and leadership experience, with the ability to positively and productively lead others.
  • Ability to work in a growing, fast-paced, multifaceted, adaptive, collaborative, and creative environment that often requires innovative and efficient problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and take initiative as required, under direct or indirect supervision.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) and Microsoft Outlook required.
  • DOJ LiveScan fingerprint clearance and CPR/First Aid certification required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with a variety of visual arts studio equipment is helpful, but not required.
  • Bilingual Spanish or Mandarin desired, but not required.
Working Conditions & Physical Tasks:

Typical office environment: requires the ability to remain seated at a computer workstation for extended periods. Some job functions may be performed outdoors and require walking over hilly terrain. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.

The employee frequently is required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

May be required to work occasional evenings or weekends. Local travel is required; must have a valid driver's license (3+ years), a clean DMV record, and access to a vehicle.
