Position Overview

Under the general oversight of the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Clinical Officer (CCO) holds the essential authority and responsibility to manage all designated departments, including rehabilitation, counseling, behavioral health, and patient advocacy. The primary duties of the Chief Clinical Officer involve organizing, directing, and ensuring the operational effectiveness of the rehabilitation, counseling, behavioral, and patient advocacy departments, along with any additional departments as assigned. The CCO is also accountable for the operational success of in-house programming and for fostering and maintaining collaborative partnerships with external organizations and agencies that can deliver a comprehensive range of quality programs tailored to meet the diverse needs of our patients. This role requires availability around the clock and encompasses accountability for clinical service departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee clinical operations at the assigned facility.
  • Serve as the primary contact for physicians, psychologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other team members.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness and outcomes of programs and implement necessary adjustments.
  • Promote team-building initiatives involving patients and their families.
  • Coordinate the delivery of patient programs and activities aligned with the organization's mission and objectives.
  • Develop innovative initiatives to support the strategic direction of the organization.
  • Ensure program activities adhere to the organization's policies and procedures.
  • Guarantee that all staff members receive orientation and training according to organizational standards.
  • Supervise program staff by providing guidance, input, and constructive feedback.
  • Recruit, hire, and train staff as needed.
  • Actively participate in the education and mentoring of team members within the scope of practice.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of individual patients' histories, current progress, and personal challenges.
  • Engage in weekly patient rounds and/or treatment planning as required.
  • Participate in family conferences and other patient care discussions as necessary.
  • Ensure effective fiscal management across all departments.
  • Confirm that all clinical departments under the CCO's direction provide appropriate services in accordance with professional licensing regulations.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels for each clinical department under the CCO's oversight.
  • Exhibit the ability to resolve and address concerns or conflicts with patients' families, colleagues, or external stakeholders in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings to facilitate effective communication and problem identification.
  • Perform employee performance evaluations promptly and ensure all necessary documentation is submitted to payroll in a timely manner.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing.
  • Provide appropriate recognition and corrective actions for staff as needed.
  • Ensure staff attendance at all mandatory training sessions.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Master's degree in a healthcare-related field from an accredited institution.

Experience:

  • Preferred 5 years of management experience in an inpatient healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge or experience in assisting individuals with neurological deficits or disabilities in acute care or community re-entry programs within an inpatient hospital environment is preferred.
  • Experience working with patients with psychiatric disorders or developmental challenges is preferred.

Licensure/Certification:

  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Satori Alternative to Managing Aggression (SAMA) certification.
  • Maintain current professional licensure in good standing throughout employment.
