Position Overview:
This role is situated at a home improvement retail establishment. The Security Gate Supervisor is positioned within a protective booth at the entrance of the lumber section. While the lumber area operates on a self-service basis, the supervisor is tasked with overseeing customer entry and exit, assisting customers in locating items as necessary, verifying receipts, and ensuring that customers depart with the correct quantity of goods. Additionally, the supervisor will encounter contractors and suppliers who are delivering or collecting merchandise.
Key Responsibilities:
The Security Gate Supervisor is responsible for:
- Monitoring customer activity at the entrance and exit points.
- Guiding customers and vendors to their desired locations within the store.
- Confirming that all customers have valid receipts and the correct merchandise.
- Maintaining a visible presence to deter theft and ensure safety.
- Documenting and reporting any incidents or irregularities promptly.
Essential Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Possession or ability to obtain an Illinois PERC Card (Permanent Employee Registration).
- Proficiency in using a tablet for operational tasks.
- Minimum age of 21 years.
- Reliable transportation is required.
- Clean background check with no felony convictions.
- Ability to pass a drug screening.
- Flexibility to work various shifts as needed.
- High school diploma or GED is mandatory.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with the public.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking fluent English.
- Physical capability to walk, climb, stand for extended periods, bend, lift, and work in varying weather conditions.
- Good health and physical fitness are crucial.
- Corrected eyesight to 20/20 vision, along with normal hearing and smell.
- Ability to observe and report incidents accurately and in a timely manner, both verbally and in writing.
- Maintaining a highly visible and alert demeanor to act as a deterrent against theft and vandalism.
- Responsibility for obtaining and maintaining all necessary licenses and certifications for the role.
