Job Overview:

This role operates under general supervision, dedicating a significant portion of time to courtroom activities and executing tasks related to court proceedings, such as accurately capturing and documenting verbatim court sessions and managing case information throughout and following these sessions. Responsibilities may encompass preparing necessary documents for each court session (e.g., labeling exhibits, drafting journal entries); recording proceedings; and scheduling subsequent court hearings.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Oversees ongoing case files, which involves: identifying necessary forms to be completed or received; monitoring case progress; issuing and processing warrants and civil suspensions; tracking and maintaining files; and/or performing related activities.

2. Processes and organizes casework for court sessions; records court actions on relevant documents and forms; and/or performs other related tasks.

3. Manages the court calendar; schedules interpreters, transportation, prosecutors, defense counsel, and/or events.

4. Executes routine administrative support tasks, including: organizing court hearing meetings; labeling exhibits, drafting journal entries, and preparing other standard documents for court sessions.

5. Undertakes additional duties of a similar nature or level.

The responsibilities outlined above represent the primary areas of focus; specific position assignments may vary based on departmental business needs.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent PLUS two years of court experience or experience in a professional office environment. Higher education may substitute for work experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in legal settings. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.

Additional Information: Successful completion of on-the-job training in JUSTICE (the statewide computer system) is required within six months.

All educational credits must be obtained from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
