We are seeking a highly skilled Emergency Management Specialist to join our team at Brook Lane Inc. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for coordinating and implementing our general safety standards to ensure compliance with Joint Commission expectations and OSHA standards.
Key Responsibilities- Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain Emergency Preparedness Plans, policies, and procedures in collaboration with the EM sub-committee to comply with current Joint Commission standards.
- Disaster Response Planning: Collaborate with management and leadership teams in the development, education, training, and implementation of Brook Lane relevant EM disaster response plans.
- Equipment Maintenance: Responsible for routine checking and/or testing of disaster-related equipment and supplies (e.g., fire extinguishers, AEDs, smoke alarms, etc.).
- Training and Education: Develop and implement training programs for employees on emergency management, safety protocols, and disaster response procedures.
- Committee Participation: Serve on various committees as requested, including the safety Committee and EM sub-committee.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, supplemented with five (5) years of related work experience in emergency management or public safety.
- NIMS certification in ICS 100, 200, 300, 400 required.
- Experience in emergency management planning and operations.
- Experience providing training and education programs in a healthcare or public safety environment.
- Experience working with hazardous material incidents and recovery.
- Certification at the Hazardous Materials Operations level or equivalent required.
- Certification at the Hazardous Materials Technician level preferred.
- Must meet OSHA standard 29 CFR regarding required medical screening of employees who wear respirators.
- Knowledge of life safety code and NFPA fire codes.
- Command of the English language, verbal and written.
- Familiarity with healthcare emergency preparedness, including security, safety, HAZMAT, OSHA, NIMS, HICS, HVA, CMS, TJC, and other hospital accreditation criteria.
- First Aid and BLS certification (current) or willingness to receive training.
