Job Description:

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a skilled healthcare professional responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in the Emergency Department. This role requires a strong commitment to providing compassionate and individualized care to patients and their families.

The RN utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. This involves the use of technology, therapeutic interventions, evidence-based practice, and coordination with other healthcare team members to ensure seamless care delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate health status through ongoing collection and assessment of health data.
  • Perform health teaching and health counseling to promote patient education and empowerment.
  • Provide therapy and treatment that is supportive and restorative to life and well-being, either directly to the patient or indirectly through consultation with, delegation to, supervision of, or teaching of others.
  • Execute delegated medical functions in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Refer patients as needed for further evaluation or treatment.
  • Review and monitor therapy and treatment plans to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Document patient care in accordance with hospital and regulatory guidelines.
  • Utilize resources as needed to ensure efficient and effective care delivery.
Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing is required.
  • Nurses with an ASN degree hired after July 1, 2020, will be required to obtain their BSN within five (5) years of employment when hired into an Acute Care or Residential Living position.
  • Nurses who possess a minimum of ten (10) years of proven Registered Nurse experience in an acute care or long-term care setting or nurses who are hired before July 1, 2020, will be exempt and will not be subject to any requirement to obtain a BSN as a condition of employment at Holy Rosary Healthcare.
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification upon hire or obtained within 60 days of hire with prior approval.
  • ACLS within 6 months of hire and kept current after that.
  • TNCC within 1 year of hire and kept current after that.
  • PALS within 6 months of hire and kept current after that.
  • ENPC within 1 year of hire and kept current after that.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree of Nursing is preferred.
  • Certification as appropriate for the unit or service is preferred.
Physical Requirements:

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.

Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.

Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.

Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients.

Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment.

Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.

Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment.

This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.

Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).

May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
